BS7671, the 17th edition of the wiring regulations recommend that a residential property (domestic rental) has a periodic inspection every 5 years, and a routine check of the electrical instakllation every year or change of occupancy, to ensure the electrical components are free from defects and damage, and thus reducing the risk of any hazards. If you are in the process of buying a house, you need to be sure that the electrical installation is satisfactory and up to standard.
